I was born into an Egyptian Jewish household and I feel I have been called to Islam, specifically the Shia sect. Am I permitted to enter a mosque and ask to learn, and if so how would I go about doing that withount seeming disrespectful?

Yes, by approaching the proper individuals in the mosque, and seeking to meet with the scholar, to have a discussion and ask your questions is the best starting point. Of course, once you explain who you are, and what you seek, I am sure they will accomodate and be helpful, in shaa Allah.
