How do the Muslims explain that Allah (swt) is without a body when there are some verses in the Qur'an that seem to indicate so in their literal translation?
Allah The Glorious is above the limits of body and space. He says in Quran : There is Nothing like Him. (Sura 42, Verse 11), so no question of Allah (SWT) having body because body is like other bodies.
Quran is in Arabic language and Arabic language has the maximum flexibility among all languages, where one word can give many meanings depending on the sentence and situation. No one can claim that he understands Quran or any book in Arabic through literal meaning of translations.
Quranic meanings can only be explained by the Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) and his Holy Progeny Ahlul Bayt (AS) and never by linguistics. Any meaning which was not mentioned by the Prophet (SAWA) or his Ahlul Bayt (AS) can never be accepted.
Allah says in Quran that He Has sent on the Prophet the Knowledge of Al-Thikr, so that he should explain to the people what was been revealed. 16:44.
Wassalam.
