Repentance (Tawbah)

Tawba (Arabic: توبة‎ alternatively spelled: tevbe or tawbah, Turkish: tövbe) is the Islamic concept of repenting to God due to performing any sins and misdeeds. It is a direct matter between a person and God, so there is no intercession. There is no original sin in Islam.

Neither Shia scholars nor our Sunni brothers have any authentic evidence that those persons of Saqeefa who did what they did against Fatima (AS) , had repented. Those who claim their repentance failed since 14 centuries to prove such repentance.

Ahlul Bayt (AS) have clearly mentioned that :Our Mother Fatima left this life while being angry on such persons and we don't have any evidence that she ever forgave them.

A book of Seven from the Salaf by Fairizabadi السبعة من السلف has details from Sunni books to prove our stand.

You need to face your sinful desires by your strong will. Sinning is the result of weakness in front of Shaitan and sinful desires. Stopping sinning depends on your will power when you decide to avoid the way of hellfire. Imam Al-Sadiq (AS) said: No one will be weak when his will power is strong.

Repeating the same sin again means that repentance was not real . Real repenting means you decide not to commit the sin again. We need to think on the results of the sinful acts and avoid it once for all. Seeking forgiveness needs a firm decision not to do it again. We need to face ourselves and tackle our sinful desires because we will be in serious danger if we don't leave the sinful acts.

Seel help from Allah (SWT) to enable you to defeat Satan and sinful desires and repeat ASTAGHFIRULLAH RABBI WA ATOOBU ELAYH. But no foreguveness if keep on committing the sins.

Any intentional or unintentional loss caused by you to anyone, must be compensated by giving them back their full rights and seeking their real pardon, even if you give them more than the original amount because you have caused harm to them. If you don't know them, you should search for them through every possible way. After full search, if you could not reach to them or their families, you have to give their rights to the Marja of Taqleed so that he can spend it on their behalf.

We need to continuously seek forgiveness and never think that our sins have been omitted. In Quran we read blame on the person who claims that his sins have been omitted just because his hardship has gone away. Sura Hud, verse 10.

Bismihi ta'ala

Of course, Almighty God forgives all sins, when we turn to Him, and repent and seek forgiveness. The door of tawbah is always open, but we need to always be careful that we do not be deceived by shaytan, or turn sin into an ongoing habit, where we casually engage in haram.

Repentance is important, but it is also a blessing from God, as He knows our level of sincerity and remorse, and how we wish to change our ways, improve ourselves and avoid sin.

Strengthening our faith and will-power will make us strong enough not to return to haram as well.

And Allah knows best

No. We must ask and beg to Allah to forgive our sins. Without being humble to seek and beg to Allah for forgiveness, our sins will not be forgiven. Not asking Allah for forgiveness, means that the sinner is still arrogant even if he decides not committing the sin again, but as he has already committed the sin, he must seek and beg to Allah (SWT) for forgiveness.
