Music

Music is an art form and cultural activity whose medium is sound organized in time. The common elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics (loudness and softness), and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture (which are sometimes termed the "color" of a musical sound). Different styles or types of music may emphasize, de-emphasize or omit some of these elements.

Listening to sinful music is satanic habit which must be must be avoided. Sinful act usually leads to sever punishment in this life and hereafter. Those who believe in Allah (SWT) disobey Shatab and their sinful desires and don't indulge in any sinful act. They remember the result of the sinful act which is disastrous and avoid it. It is not allowed to listen to any type of sinful music. Sinful music is the music which is usually listened by the sinners. Emotional music which is usually by sinners is not allowed. If it is a martial music of war which is specifically used by the sinners, then many of our great Maraaji' of Taqleed say that it is not sinful.
