The Most Miserable Person Is One Who’s Faith is Corrupted

Question here.

When Imam Ali, alayhi as-salam, describes the miserable deviation on Earth, what type of corruption is he describing? Is he describing corruption in "aqidah", creed, and theology? Or he is describing corruption in terms of immoral acts and killing and injustice? Which one is he mainly describing? The corruption in faith and aqidah.

The Imam makes no direct mention of other types of corruption. People killing one another, exploitation of the rich to the poor, the powerful ones, injustice, murder, killing, adultery, immoral acts. Question why?

Because that is also important deviations that happened in those times. Why? The most important believing in God, like in existence of God and God. This is the main thing and then everything else is secondary. Yes. There are two responses to this, because there are some people who are critical of this.

They are like, look, you and your Islamic heritage and hadiths, there is all this emphasis on the belief in Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala. But really, what about other types of deviations and corruptions? You could have someone who worships an idol, but he is so gentle, so loving, so good. Right? Where does that fit in over

here in the picture? So there are two responses. First of all, Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala created us for a number of reasons, but the primary reason why Allah created us is to worship him. Not to build civilizations, not to show love and kindness to anyone that is secondary. The first reason why Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala created us is what? "Wa ma khalaqtu al-jinna wa al-insa illla li ya'abudun" (51:56).

That is the whole purpose behind creation. If someone is not worshiping the one God, inshaAllah, they are building the most beautiful civilization in history. They are not doing that which God wants from us. They are not. It is as simple as that.

A lot of people ask about famous inventors, right? Let us say you have someone who made an invention that is benefiting billions of people and benefiting humanity. But let us say that inventor is a mushrik or an atheist. What do you say about that? It is tough right?

Especially today in 21st century, you cannot even comment on these issues because now you are talking about humanity and serving others. What do you say about that? He could benefit this life. He gets his reward in this life. He does not get it in the afterlife.

Exactly. Allah will say to this person, did you believe in me? No, I did not believe in you. Did you expect me to take you to paradise? No, I did not even believe in your paradise.

He never asked for paradise. He never asked. Allah will tell him on the day of judgment. Did you ask me for paradise? No.

So what are you entitled to? He is like, but I benefited humanity. Allah says, and I give you your reward in the world. Everybody talks about you. You are mentioned in all history books, everybody knows your name. I give you your jaza'.

In the world, you got your reward. And a lot of times, these inventors, they make also good money out of their inventions too. And they live too long. They live too long? Some of them live too long right?

So Allah says I gave you a reward. What do you want from me on the day of judgment? What do you want? See the person, we are not saying Allah does not forgive.

Allah will forgive to the point where it will shock us on the Day of Judgment. But the atheist inshaAllah he made the biggest invention on the Day of Judgment, does he have the right to demand Allah to take him to paradise? He does not have the right. He is not entitled.

He never subscribed to the system. He never registered. He never, never registered. Let me give you an example. This is a common example that sometimes you will find some people referring to, it is an interesting example. If you fly with an airline, if you are a frequent flyer and you fly with an airline one million miles. Now every time you get 25,000 miles you get a status, silver, gold, platinum, diamond, whatever and

it comes with benefits. And you get free tickets. You can take your family on vacation if you have a million miles, best five star vacation.

Let us say you have been flying with that airline for years. But you never registered. You never made an account. You never got your frequent flyer number. And when you purchased the ticket you never put that number.

After ten years, can you go to Delta Airlines and say hey I have been flying for ten years where's my miles? They say sorry you are not entitled. What do you mean I am not entitled? I have been flying.

They said yeah but you never registered. You never made an account. They like to be merciful and give him fine. But is he entitled to get those miles? No.

When you do not believe in Allah you have not registered for that system. So what do you want to ask Allah on the day of judgement? What do you want to demand? If the person of course was stubborn, because we talked about the "mustahdaafeen", those people who maybe have had a weak intellect. They didn't out of stubbornness reject God, they were just confused. Fine. That is different.

But the one who knew. Who could have seen the truth and rejected the existence of God, that is tough. They never registered.
