The Life That God Chose For You - 30 Verses For 30 Days 5/30
Salamun alaykum, dear brothers and sisters, and welcome to another one of our Tafsir clips. Today Inshallah we will continue with a verse of the Qur'an that is situated in the fifth Juz of the Qur'an. And that is verse 32 from Surah An-Nisa: ''A'udhu bil-Lahi, min al-Shaytan, al-rajim. "Wa la tatamannaw ma faddal Allahu bihi ba'dakum 'alaa ba'd; li 'r-rijali naseebun min maktasaboo wa li 'n-nisa'i naseebun mimmak tasabna; wa s'alu Allaha min fadlih' (4:32).
In this verse of the Qur'an, we find Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala tells the human being to not ask or wish for those things that Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala has given to others. And of course, the verse, if you go through it, the context of this particular verse, is referring to the advantages or the disadvantages that both a man or a woman might have, a male or a female might have.
But this is something that we can apply to other aspects of our life as well. And it is such a critical and important message to adopt really. Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala says, do not be such that you go asking for those things that Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala has plans not to give to you. And the reality is the reason why He is not giving you those things is because those things are not in your best interest.
We have to understand that what Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala has blessed each and every one of us with, are those things that are the best things for us. And we may not know that. And because of that, it might seem to us that Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala has given this person a talent, for example, He has given this person wealth, this person beauty, this person fame. But the reality is, these are not haphazard.
The reality is that Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala, when He gives these blessings to different individuals, He is taking into consideration who this individual is and how this blessing is going to play a role in his life. That is why a beautiful Hadith from the Ahl Al-Bayt says that Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala knows his servants the best. Some of them will be the best servants if they are wealthy, some of them will be the best servants when they are not wealthy, and they might even be struggling financially.
The Hadith says Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala, knows his servants so well. He knows for some of them, if He were to give them wealth, they would disobey him and they would completely change their path. And for some of them, they are the exact opposite. Characters, individuals, they come in all forms and shapes.
The Hadith says He also knows individuals who, if He were to take away from their wealth, that they would then turn away from him. And so for this group, He gives them wealth. And for the other group, He might be taking away wealth from them to test them. At the end of the day, we have to remember that whatever Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala has blessed me with, whether it is health, wealth, beauty, fame, whatever it is that I find in myself, and whatever it is I find in the lives of others. It is the wisdom of Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala and He knows better.
Many times we might pray and wish for something. And the moment Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala gives us that thing, it is the beginning of the worst days of our lives. This does not mean we should not ask if I want something. If I wish for something, if it is halal, if it is okay, I can pray to Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala there's nothing wrong with praying for money. That is not a problem.
But the reality is if I do not get it, then I can not sit there and now have my whole life revolve around the idea that I did not get my hands on this particular blessing. "Wa 'sal Allaha min-fadlik" ask Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala from His Mercy, but do not sit there and say, why did this person get this and why didn't I get it? After you have asked Him, because the reality is that the wisdom of Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala determines what blessings you are blessed with, and what blessings you may not necessarily be blessed with.
