Do Not Speak To Me - 30 Verses For 30 Days 18/30

Salamun alaykum, dear brothers and sisters, and welcome to the 18th clip of this month of Ramadan. In this clip, InshaAllah, we will be delving into verse 108 of Surat ul-Mu'minun, in the 18th Juz of the Qur'an. The Qur'an in this Verse is describing for us some interaction that takes place in the hereafter between those who end up in Hellfire with Allah.

And it is very interesting because in this particular conversation or interaction that they are having, they ask Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala, for them to be returned to this world, for them to leave Hellfire so that they can change things, they can go about things in a different way. The response that they receive, however, seems to be a very harsh response. And what we want to delve into tonight in this clip, really is, why is it that this response is such a harsh response? And what made these people essentially become worthy of this type of a response from Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala?

So the Verse says this, they turn to Allah. They say: "Rabbana akhrijnaa minha" (23:107). Oh Allah, have us leave this Hellfire, "fa in 'udna fa inna dhalimun" (23:107), if we were to ever return to evil, meaning that You have us leave the Hellfire. But then You give us another chance, if we still mess up again, then "fa in 'udna fa inna dhalimun" (23:107), if we mess up again, then we are worthy of this Hellfire. It seems to be like a valid request, yes?

But the Qur'an, of course, and other verses says that We have given them multiple chances. Even if We return them back again, they will still do the same thing. But in this particular Verse, Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala answers and responds to these people with a very harsh response. He says this: "Qala 'khsa'u fiha, wa la tukallimun" (23:108). Ikhsa'u is used for when you want to push someone away, or you want to tell for someone to be gone. And it seems like a very harsh response from Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala, that He would turn to these people who are asking for another chance, Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala says, Be gone, "wa la tukallimun" (23:108), and don't you dare speak to Me.

The same God of theirs who in this world was always asking for them to speak to them. Now He says, don't speak to me. So the question is, why is this response so harsh from Arham ar-Rahimin? What made these people worthy of this harsh response? As you continue in the next verse, Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala explained. He says: "Innahu kana fariqun min 'ibadi yaquluna Rabbana amanna" (23:109), there were a group of My servants, they used to raise their hands in Du'a. They used to say: "Rabbana Ighfirlana, or faghfirlana wa arhamna, wa Anta khairu ar-rahimin" (23:109). They used to pray to Me, they used to believe in Me.

What you did was: "Fa 'ttakhadhtumuhum sikhriyyan" (23:110), what you did is that you went around these servants of mine who were not hurting you, they weren't doing anything against you. You started to make mockery of them. You started to make fun of them. Yes. And the verse continues: "hatta ansawkum dhikri wa kuntum minhum tadhakun" (23:110). And you used to laugh at them.

And the Qur'an is saying, listen, there is two points in this Verse. Number one you are worthy of this punishment because it wasn't just that you rejected My message. There were those who used to believe in my message, number one, and you used to make fun of them you used to mock them that is what makes you worthy of this type of a response, this is why Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala doesn't even want to respond to these people, because these are people who hurt His other servants, number one.

Number two you are not the type who turned away from the message and then had doubts and they didn't know did they make the right decision or not? You walked away and you were laughing as you walked away!

This is why the Qur'an says with regards to these people: Be gone, "wa la tukallimun" (23:108). Do not speak to Me, yes. So this is why the response from Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala with regards to what these people are asking for is so harsh in the verses of the Qur'an
