Is it permissible to read the Bible just out of curiosity as one of the books that has been sent down by Allah (swt)?

I understand that the father of Mary in the Bible is Joachim but in the Quran the father of Maryam is Imran and she is also called by her nation as the sister of Harun. How does one reconcile these differences?

Is it not unreasonable to believe that the Bible was changed but the Qur'an was not? Isn't it possible that transcription errors could take place in writing all the books of God and the Prophet Mohammed could be misquoted when he communicated the verses?
